virus: Rationality

I had an argument with David McFadzean about rationality and its
relationship to logic, some time ago now. We were suffering from
different-definition disease. Mine roughly equated rationality with
consciously reasoned or logical thought. David's (hope this isn't too
violent a rephrasing) took rationality to be thought leading to behaviour
that was in the best interest of an organism, no matter whether the thought
processes were based on attempted logic or causal reasoning. I think.
I reckon rationality-discussers should fess up about their definitions NOW,
and then we should have a think about... voting on a concensus, maybe?
