This isn't quite related to your topic, Wade, but it sparked a plug in my mind about how computers used to be seen as beneficial to youngsters, and teachers were all gung-ho about this new technology in classrooms, but now focus has been brought to certain lurking *dangers* that can result from abundant access to computers.
Namely, I was at work the other day and I heard a radio advertisement about how harmful the Internet is for impressionable minors, and the need for censorship to protect their innocent (heh) minds from the corruption of the big, nasty Porn Monster that is out there. Has anyone discussed the proposal that schools be furnished with this new, (fac*cough*ist*) kiddie-safe software on this list yet?
Anyway, what blew my socks off is that this 'warning' about the Internet and its evils was being transmitted via the radio. I just thought it particularly appalling that in order to spread their *the WWW/pornography is badbadBAD and we must save the nation's children from eternal damnation* meme and reach out to brainwash the public, they paid for a radio advertisement on a rubbish-laden pop-rock station.
