Maybe. Sodom suggested that holding contradictory beliefs seems to be
something to be eliminated:
[Sodom]:
> At some level, this seems to be a "problem" almost everyone has,
>it's easy to find contradictory beliefs in just about everyone's
>philosophies, and generally these people accept this as OK. A good
>example is accepting logic as accurate, but holding metaphysical
>beliefs none-the-less. To me, this seems to be something to be
>eliminated, not looked for. What am I missing here?
Nobody was talking about Level-3, but thank you for responding to my
concerns this time.
>You keep making snide remarks like this. It seems
>like you are so frustrated with not being able to get to Level 3 yourself
>that you want to take it away from everyone else. Sour grapes?
Very good MS Flip :-). If you need to find fault in my person in order to
explain how "holding contradictory beliefs" may be benefical it does not
seem to be very convincing to me.
>As you so diligently have been pointing out for the last two years, it is
>easy to be misunderstood or deliberately misinterpreted when coming from
>Level 3.
Please don't put words in my mouth. This is only your opinion.
>However, as Emerson said, to be great is to be misunderstood.
And to be misunderstood is not necessarily to be great.
>I choose to put up with your sometimes humorous, sometimes
>bitter sniping because I choose to express who I am rather than
>filter my every thought through the castrating sieve of consistency
>that I used to use.
Thank you for being you. I appreciate it.
>Since that time, contrary to your suspicions, my human
>relationships have transformed from hellish to wonderful,
>and the texture of my life has gone away from
>"getting away with stuff" toward creating that which I am here to
>accomplish.
If you volunteer some personal information it would be much more convincing
if you were more specific. The last little personal example you gave with
"Nametag" was a real eye-opener for me.
>I guess Level 3 is a disease as far as your Level 2 mindset is
>concerned, just as penicillin is toxic to certain forms of life.
I do not appreciate your putting me in a box labeled Level-2 or Level-3 or
whatever. Dividing people by levels or "unwashed masses" and enlightened
Level-3ers does not lead anywhere but conflict. Please stop doing it.
I am still not clear how "Holding contradictory beliefs" may be beneficial
to a person, except my theory that "These kind of people get away with many
things". What do you think of my theory?
