Did you read part II as well as Part I. Part II just came out this week
and contains most of the memetics stuff.

Almost all academics try to speak from authority. But I expect that
if memetics is going to become a science it will have to be accepted by
the scientists. I never met an academic who didn't believe religiously
in what he through was "the Truth." You no doubt have similar feelings
about the Truth of your church.
