Hmmm... I've been having a kind of think about this kind of issue lately...

What if the recursion didn't go /upwards/, but /forwards in time/?
EG... at the moment, as I think of my consciousness working "as memes (which
are like genes, only cognitive, with a neurological substrate)", I'm
thinking in LOADS of cognitive recursions before I get down to sensory-motor
level. The loops, though I don't notice them... are pretty outlandish right
/now/.

Is consciousness a kind of autopoietic thing? Like my body, maintained as
its cells reproduce, and thus continuing its existence? So, it CAN be
self-referential, but the build-up of levels kind of falls forward into the
/time/ dimension? And if so, is part of the deal that you always FORGET
early iterations of the loops? IE, you cease to be aware of the ideas on
which your current ideas are based, and the cells which gave rise to your
current cells die...?

FAIRLY CLOSELY]
Maybe... the self-birthing (ha ha ha ha ha) process that I call my evolving
consciousness stops when entropy kills its physical substrate? (Sorry for
this downer image: I'm developing moles and a flabby stomach.) ...Like
Complex Order self-organises and propagates in the physical universe, until
entropy caps its progress?
Jesus I wish I could argue logically instead of having to visualise=
everything.
