Or rather, there are multiple solid sources, and I can't recall which of
ten to cite....
The exact area "fucked up" is short-term memory. The capacity,
reliability, and speed plummet drastically. Since my work creates a
rather severe demand for REM sleep [beyond my ability to get it via
sleep], I have had to research ways of duplicating its effects reliably
while awake. None of these bypasses is 100% effective, but they are
better than *nothing*.
