I agree that a hypocritical stance on sexual mores would have a
selective advantage in a conservative climate, but that doesn't mean
that it is not an evolutionarily stable strategy. My understanding of
an ESS is that when it is the established prevalent strategy, no other
competing strategy has a selective advantage. So a "go for it" attitude
would not be evolutionarily stable only if sexual conservatives have
a selective advantage in a sexually liberal society, which I don't think
is the case.
