I believe the issue to be one more of evidence than absolutes. For example:
just because people have nightmares about monsters does not mean that there
is any evidence that somewhere in the universe there is a place where they
all live. Without a shred of evidence there is no reason to seriously
approach the issue of the existence of a supreme being. Philosophically we
can mull it all over as much as we want. This has nothing to do with
atheists having some kind of a super ego - proclaiming to know it all. There
are no monsters.
