Given your interest in Buddhism, I'm surprised to hear that you think Richard
is suggesting a novel definition of "consciousness." Are you saying that the
distinction between knowing something and being conscious of something is a
new concept for you? I suspect that if you reflect on the 8-fold noble path
you will realize that you've entertained this distinction before.
