...there's also "Food of the Gods" by Terence McKenna which is much more up to date than the Wasson text (and quite good). And a reasonably short essay by Robert Graves (English poet, mystic and crackpot who collaborated with Wasson) called "Mushrooms and religion" in DIFFICULT QUESTIONS, EASY ANSWERS. (Which also contains a very illuminating essay on the development of dogmatic christianity in Europe - and by extension worldwide).
