I heartily recommend "THE TAO IS SILENT" by Raymond Smullyan (1977). It is kind of like the Tao Te Ching meets Godel, Escher Bach meets The Mind's Eye, all rolled up into 225 yummy pages. Also, If you liked Stephen Batchelor's "BUDDHISM WITHOUT BELIEF", you'll also like "THE FAITH TO DOUBT", by the same author.
