I perceive another difference. It would seem that trust refers to the category of being. People who have faith that their particular god of choice or any god in general is either present or absent are expressing a belief in the being or nonbeing of the entity in question. Trust, however, seems to be confined to the category of doing. People trust that certain things will or will not happen generally, or will or will not be done.
