virus: cult of personality

Desmond Morris ascribes much of religion, much less the
cult of personality, to our ingrained tendancy to submit
ourselves before a dominant member of the tribe (_The
Naked Ape_). In other words, most primate species
have one dominant member (usually male) per tribe;
in our case, that dominant member doesn't physically
exist, but instead is referred to as "God".
Cult of personality may simply be another manifestation
of this.
