I was being provocative, and deliberately left out the smiley. Bad
meme! Bad meme! Chaos theory may apply here: the two equilibria need
be nothing like each other (and, as I understand chaos, the other one
may be unpredictable/unknowable, not unlike the singularity?). You are
wisely suggesting that we manage the inevitable transition to minimize
pain.
On another note, was the domain name proposal, lucifer.com, a reference
to the early Extropy article, "In praise of Satan"? It is an
argument that Lucifer was a (the original?) mythical critical thinker.
